The basics
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the same building blocks as protein. Your body already makes thousands of them.
Many peptides act like messengers. They fit a specific receptor, like a key in a lock, and tell a cell to do one job, such as release a hormone or start a repair.
Peptides don't work through the hormone receptors that steroids use. Some nudge your body to make more of its own hormones instead.
Some peptides have strong human research. Many popular ones have mostly animal studies. We show you which is which.
