Credentialing Standards

Every provider passed a
comprehensive screening process.

We don’t credential lightly. Every physician and nurse practitioner in our network completed a multi-step, primary-source verification process before seeing a single patient. Here’s exactly what that covers.

Primary source background check

Criminal background, professional history, and disciplinary records verified from primary sources — not self-reported.

State board licensing verification

Active, in-good-standing license verified in every state where the provider sees patients. Re-verified at each renewal cycle.

DEA registration

Drug Enforcement Administration registration verified — required to prescribe controlled and non-controlled substances.

Board certification review

Board certification verified through the issuing medical board — not self-reported. Includes current certification status check.

NPI verification

National Provider Identifier verified and cross-referenced with Medicare eligibility records and national provider database.

Malpractice & NPDB review

Full malpractice history reviewed. National Practitioner Data Bank queried for any adverse actions or settlements.

OIG sanction check

Office of Inspector General exclusion list reviewed — ensures no federal program sanctions or exclusions.

Active malpractice coverage

Professional liability insurance verified as active before credentialing is approved. Minimum coverage thresholds required.

GLP-1 clinical training

Providers undergo GLP-1 protocol training specific to our clinical partner’s standards before being assigned to Bold You patients.

Signed attestation

Provider attests under penalty of perjury to all credentials, history, and current standing before first patient assignment.

Clinical Pathway Routing

How your provider
reviews your case.

Your state determines your clinical pathway. Both routes converge at the same outcome: a licensed physician reviewing your individual health history and issuing a personalized prescription.

⚡ Async Pathway — Most States
No Appointment Needed
In the majority of states, your provider reviews your complete intake form asynchronously — at their workstation, on their schedule — within 24–48 hours. No live appointment. No waiting room. No scheduling friction.
1
You submit your clinical intake form through the Bold You portal
2
Intake routes automatically to a licensed provider in your state
3
Provider reviews your BMI, health history, medications, and eligibility
4
Approved → ePrescription issued to our pharmacy network same day
5
Denied → written notification with reason and alternative program offered
6
Labs ordered if clinically indicated — reviewed asynchronously by provider
📹 Sync Pathway — 16 States
Brief Video Call Required
16 states require a synchronous (live video) consultation before your first prescription. This is a state regulatory requirement, not a Bold You policy. We handle scheduling automatically — nothing extra needed from you.
1
Intake submitted — your state detected automatically by the system
2
Video appointment scheduling link sent within 24 hours of enrollment
3
10–15 minute live video consult with a licensed provider — included in your plan
4
Provider reviews intake, discusses starting dose and what to expect
5
ePrescription issued immediately following approved consult
6
All future refill reviews convert to async pathway — first consult only
Sync-Required States
CO · HI · KY · MO · SC · UT · AK · KS · VA · AR · DC · DE · MS · NM · RI · WV — South Carolina included; first consult only, then async for all refills.
💬
You don’t need to know which pathway you’re on. Our clinical infrastructure routes every patient automatically based on their state and program type. If a video call is required, you’ll receive a scheduling link within 24 hours of enrollment. No manual steps, no research required.
Ongoing Clinical Oversight

Provider oversight doesn’t stop
after the first prescription.

Your provider isn’t a one-time reviewer. They’re part of your ongoing clinical care — monitoring your progress, adjusting your dose, and reviewing refills throughout your entire program.

01
Day 1 · Initial Review
Full Clinical Intake Review
Complete health history, medications, contraindications, BMI, and goals. Provider approves or denies based on individual clinical eligibility. Prescription includes starting dose and titration schedule.
02
Every 28 Days · Refill Review
Monthly Provider Check-In
Short refill intake form reviewed by your provider before each supply ships. Side effects assessed. Dose titration evaluated. Medication approved or adjusted. No appointment required in most states.
03
Months 1–4 · Titration Phase
Dose Escalation Management
Provider manages your dose titration from starting level through therapeutic dose. Adjustments based on side effect profile and weight loss response. Flat pricing means your cost never changes with dose.
04
Anytime · Async Messaging
Async Provider Consultation
Message your provider through the HIPAA-secure patient portal for any clinical questions between refill cycles. Responses within 24–48 hours. Escalated to synchronous call if clinically indicated.
05
Anytime · Sync Available
Video Consult Available Always
Any patient can request a synchronous video consult at any provider check-in, regardless of state or pathway. Never an additional charge for choosing a live appointment over async review.
06
Month 3+ · Goal Weight Planning
Maintenance Transition Review
Provider begins maintenance transition review at Month 3 — before goal weight is reached. Discusses transition to Maintenance Microdosing protocol or program graduation. Coordinated with your care coach.
Patient Safety

Safety isn’t a feature.
It’s the foundation.

Every clinical safeguard listed below is active for every patient, every time. Not on the Bold plan or higher. Every plan.

🔒
Contraindication Screening
Every intake includes comprehensive contraindication screening. Patients with active pancreatitis, MEN2 syndrome, thyroid history, or specific medication interactions are flagged before any prescription is issued.
📋
Full Medication Review
Your complete current medication list is reviewed by the provider before prescribing. GLP-1 interactions with insulin, blood pressure medications, and other drugs are screened at every refill, not just intake.
🧪
Labs Ordered When Indicated
When your intake or refill response indicates a need for lab work (A1C, metabolic panel, thyroid, etc.), your provider orders labs through the platform. Results are reviewed asynchronously before the next prescription.
💊
503A & 503B Pharmacy Standards
Every medication ships from an FDA-registered 503A or 503B compounding pharmacy operating under USP standards. Quality control includes potency testing, sterility verification, and cold chain integrity for injectables.
Provider Questions

What patients ask about
clinical oversight

Will I know who my provider is?+
Yes. Your assigned provider’s name, credentials, and medical license number are visible in your member portal before and after your intake review. You’ll know exactly who reviewed your case and who issued your prescription. You can request a different provider at any time through the portal, and your request will be honored at the next billing cycle.
Can I talk to my provider directly?+
Yes. You can message your provider through the HIPAA-secure patient portal at any time. Responses typically arrive within 24–48 hours. If you want a live conversation, any patient can request a synchronous video consult at any refill check-in — at no additional charge, regardless of your state or plan. Video consults are not limited to first prescriptions.
How does my provider manage my dose over time?+
Your provider manages dose titration through the monthly refill review process. Before each 28-day supply ships, you complete a short refill intake form that captures your side effect profile, weight progress, and any health changes. Your provider reviews this form and approves either your current dose or a titration adjustment. The pricing on your program never changes as your dose goes up.
What happens if my provider denies my prescription?+
If your provider determines you don’t clinically qualify for the requested program, you receive written notification with the specific reason. A full refund is issued within 3–5 business days. In many cases, an alternative program is recommended — for example, if you don’t qualify for full GLP-1, your provider may recommend our Microdosing program (BMI 20+). You are never charged for medication that wasn’t prescribed.
Are the providers employed by Bold You?+
No. The providers in our network are licensed independent physicians and nurse practitioners, not employees of Bold You Wellness. They practice independently through our clinical infrastructure partner. This is a standard structure in the telehealth industry and is required in many states that have corporate practice of medicine laws. Bold You provides the technology platform; the providers provide independent clinical judgment.
What if I need care that’s beyond the scope of the program?+
If your provider identifies a clinical need that falls outside the scope of our programs — such as a diagnosis requiring specialist care, an emergency situation, or a condition that contraindicates GLP-1 therapy — they will advise you to seek appropriate in-person care. Bold You programs are not a replacement for primary care, emergency care, or specialist care. All patients are encouraged to maintain a relationship with their primary care physician.
